Life Mirrors Sports - Sports Mirrors Life
There are so many metaphors in sports, for this blog, I am narrowing it down to this years NBA basketball playoffs. As we speak, we are in the middle of the playoffs and I am a big Houston Rockets fan.
We just lost our first game yesterday against the best team in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors. They have won the world championship for the last two years and are attempting a "three peat", or winning three world titles in a row.
This is a very difficult task that only a few teams in the history of the NBA have accomplished. So this sets the stage for a perfect metaphor of the haves and the have nots. The Houston Rockets are the have nots as they have been building a team to unseat the Warriors for the last 3-4 years, with no luck.
It cannot be narrowed down to just plain talent, as both teams are loaded with talent.... so why do we keep loosing. What I am seeing is one team, the Warriors, make no excuses and they play to win..... the other team, my Rockets, play to get calls thus they live in victimhood. It is always the fault of somebody else... the refs, the rules change in the playoffs, injuries, etc, etc, etc. As long as we live in the victim, blame others, and refuse to accept our part..... we will never reach our goals. We can either play to get the call (or in life help from others) or we can accept life as it is and go for the win....NOT THE EXCUSE.
We can either be the victim or victor..... its our choice and time will tell which team can tap into that energy. The team that refuses to be a victim will come out on top...... the other will be searching for excuses.........which team do you want to be???
